Concert Anniversaire

Vous trouverez ci-dessous de plus amples informations sur ce projet en Anglais.

The Chamber Orchestra of Europe has been invited to perform at the 25th anniversary concert of the Kronberg Academy on 22 October.

Three of the Academy’s leading tutors Gidon Kremer, Christian Tetzlaff and Yuri Bashmet, are joined by alumni István Várdai and Vilde Frang for a varied concert programme of works for string soloists with orchestra by Bach, Tchaikovsky, Schnittke and Schubert.

Violinist Christian Tetzlaff last performed with the COE accompanying us on our very first trip to the United Arabic Emirates together with Robin Ticciati in the autumn of 2017. For this special concert at the Kurhaus in Wiesbaden he teams up with Vilde Frang for Bach’s Double Violin Concerto, which will be her debut performance with the COE.

Violinist Gidon Kremer however, has performed extensively as a soloist with the COE mostly between 1986 and ’95 under leading conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Paavo Berglund and Christoph Eschenbach. Like Kremer and Eschenbach, also Yuri Bashmet is associated as an artistic advisor with the Kronberg Academy. To celebrate this landmark moment in the history of the Academy, Kremer will play Schubert’s Polonaise in B flat major for violin and orchestra, where Bashmet performs Tchaikovsky’s Nocturne No. 4 for viola together with the COE.

Also 20th century repertoire is included in the programme with Schnittke’s Triple Concerto for violin, viola and cello as a typical example of the composer’s poly-stylistic work and highlighting the Kronberg Academy’s main fields of study.

The celebratory evening culminates in COE’s performance of Mozart’s ‘Jupiter’ Symphony.

Kronberg Academy

The Kronberg Academy is a cultural and educational institution located in the region of Frankfurt, that provides all-round musical training and sponsoring for exceptionally gifted young violinists, violists and cellists. Renowned musicians such as Ana Chumachenco, Christian Tetzlaff, Tabea Zimmermann and Frans Helmerson are among the Academy’s professors and it offers 25 study places on their Bachelor and Master programmes, with the degrees awarded by Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. The Academy’s bi-annual festival, masterclasses and many other public events give young musicians and music lovers from all over the world access to inspiring musical gatherings of the highest artistic standard. The Kronberg Academy was founded in 1993 and some key figures of the international music scene form part of its Artistic Council, including COE’s Honorary Member Sir András Schiff.

Nouveau partenariat

This special concert for the 25th anniversary of the Kronberg Academy also announces our exciting new partnership with the Kronberg Academy that will begin in 2021.

As a result of this new partnership, students of the Kronberg Academy and members of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, together with the many soloists and conductors who work with both organisations, will have the opportunity to work together and develop a variety of joint projects and initiatives.

In the foreseeable future, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe will become the first-ever orchestra-in-residence at the Academy’s purpose-built new home, the Casals Forum. The residency at the Forum offers the perfect “laboratory” conditions for rehearsal, enabling the COE to develop its work in Frankfurt and the region, in addition to preparing for concert tours across Europe and worldwide as the orchestra’s central-European base.
