COE and Eva Gevorgyan in Eisenstadt
7th-10th May 2026

Programme
In May, the COE returns to Schloss Esterházy in Eisenstadt for the latest project in its residency there, with a programme that feels especially at home in this setting.
There could hardly be a more fitting place to perform Symphony No. 45 (Haydn) than Eisenstadt, where Joseph Haydn spent so much of his working life in the service of the Esterházy court. From there, the programme moves to Piano Concerto No. 2 (Chopin), with Eva Gevorgyan making her first appearance with the Orchestra. Still at the beginning of an already remarkable international career, Eva brings both freshness and depth to one of Frédéric Chopin’s most lyrical works. The concert closes with Symphony No. 3 (Mendelssohn), Felix Mendelssohn’s evocative portrait of Scotland’s landscape and atmosphere.
The project will be directed by Maria Włoszczowska, leading from the violin. Maria joined the COE as Leader/Director in September 2024 and shares the position at 50% with Lorenza Borrani. Maria said about her appointment: “What an adventure to look forward to! I’m so grateful to the COE for their trust, openness and warmth. To be welcomed with such a positive spirit by a group I’ve listened to and admired most of my life is a dream come true.”
Players arrive in Eisenstadt on 7 May, with rehearsals beginning the following day ahead of the concert on 10 May. The performance will be recorded by medici.tv and broadcast live, with catch-up viewing available afterwards, allowing audiences well beyond the hall to follow the project.
