Opening of the Casals Forum, Kronberg
20-26 September 2022

Programme

For a number of years, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Kronberg Academy have been working in Partnership, with the COE being invited to perform a number of times in Kronberg, including for the celebration of the Academy’s 25th anniversary in 2018. We are thrilled that this partnership has resulted in an invitation to become orchestra-in-residence at the Academy’s brand new Casals Forum where we can rehearse ahead of tours as well as perform smaller scale concerts with some of the Kronberg Academy students and teachers. Back in May this year, the COE musicians set foot for the first time in the newly built, not yet opened, concert hall, rehearsing with François Leleux ahead of their concerts in Würzburg and Augsburg by way of an acoustics test.

We are looking forward to performing a series of private concerts for the Kronberg Academy’s Sponsors and Friends as well as one public concert on 25th September and a chamber concert on the 26th to celebrate the long-awaited grand opening of the Casals Forum. Joining the Orchestra will be pianist Sir András Schiff, a long-standing Honorary Member of the COE, as well as world-class artists such as Janine Jansen, Steven Isserlis, Tabea Zimmerman, Antoine Tamestit and Vadim Gluzman and Kronberg Academy students. The repertoire for the concert on 25th September for the general public includes Beethoven’s Overture in C Major “The consecration of the house” and Piano Concerto No. 1 as well as Brahms’ Concerto for Violin and Cello in A minor.
