Salzburg Mozartwoche 2024

The Chamber Orchestra of Europe is looking forward to its yearly stint at the Salzburg Mozartwoche, this time with pianist Kirill Gerstein who will be performing and directing piano works by Mozart, Salieri and Beethoven. The orchestral pieces will be led by the amazing Polish violinist Maria Włoszczowska.

Tour with Sir Antonio Pappano and Beatrice Rana (Winter 2023)

As always, the COE is looking forward to its now well-established end-of-year tour with Sir Antonio Pappano, one of the orchestra’s closest friends. This year they are joined by the Italian pianist Beatrice Rana in a program by Elgar, Schumann and Dvorak. Beatrice will perform Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto, which she recorded for Warner Classics with the COE and Yannick Nézet-Séguin last year at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden. The CD, which also includes Clara Wieck-Schumann’s Piano Concerto No. 1, was released earlier this year to great international acclaim.

Kronberg Academy Festival and BeethovenFest 2023

The COE looks forward to performing three concerts at this year’s Kronberg Academy Festival on 21st and 25th September with conductor Robin Ticciati and a number of international soloists. The concerts will take place at the Casals Forum, the Academy’s beautiful concert hall which the COE inaugurated last year. On 22nd and 24th September, they will also perform at Bonn’s BeethovenFest for the first time since 2009.

Herbstgold 2023

The COE is looking forward to performing again at the Schloss Esterhazy in Eisenstadt, where it has been orchestra-in-residence since 2022. This year’s festival’s opening concert on 13th September features the COE and Julian Rachlin, Artistic Director of Herbstgold, in works by Prokofiev, Glinka and Tchaikovsky. For its second concert on the 16th, as Sir John Eliot Gardiner had to cancel the rest of his concerts this year due to health reasons, the COE is joined by the amazing young conductor Maxim Emelyanychev, principal conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and soprano Lucy Crowe in a programme by Haydn, Weber and Schubert. Both concerts will be broadcast on Medici TV.

The COE is thrilled to be resident again at the Capitale d’Eté in Baden-Baden, a series of concert featuring conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin. This year, we will conclude the Brahms Symphony Cycle started in July 2022 with Brahms’s Symphonies Nos. 3 and 4, as well as a chamber concert featuring COE principal clarinet Romain Guyot, followed by a third performance with works by Brahms and Louise Farrenc.

Mozart+fest 2022, Salzburg

The Chamber Orchestra of Europe has been invited with François Leleux and Lisa Batiashvili to perform a concert which was initially part of the Salzburg Mozartwoche in January, cancelled this year due to the spread of the Omicron variant. This concert will be part of the Mozart+Fest, a three-day festival in celebration of the inauguration of the Mozarteum’s new foyer and the completion of the first stage of the renovation of the Großer Saal.

Opening of the Casals Forum, Kronberg

The Chamber Orchestra of Europe performs a series of private and public concerts in celebration of the opening of the Kronberg Academy’s brand new concert hall, the Casals Forum, where the COE is orchestra-in-residence. Mozartfest 2022 with François Leleux

The COE and François Leleux – its former principal oboe – will perform two concerts at this year’s Mozartfest in Würzburg and Augsburg on 26th and 27th May. The programme features Haydn’s Symphony No. 22, Arias from Mozart operas arranged for oboe and orchestra, Cimarosa’s Concerto for Oboe and Strings and Mozart’s Symphony No. 28. In Würzburg, COE cellist Kate Gould will perform Le Corps des Cordes for solo cello by Isabel Mundry and in Augsburg, a COE chamber ensemble will perform Widmann’s Aria for Violin, Viola and 11 strings. Both concerts will be directed by COE Leader for this project, Jose Maria Blumenschein.

On 11th March, the COE will be kick-starting its three-year long residency at the Schloss Esterházy in Eisenstadt with a fundraising concert for Ukraine with pianist Fazıl Say. They will then perform at the Isarphilharmonie, a brand new concert hall which opened in Munich on 8th October 2021. The programme features Haydn’s Symphony No. 96 “The Miracle”, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21, Fazıl Say’s own composition “Yürüyen Köşk” (The Moving Mansion) for Piano and String Orchestra and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6.

The Magic Flute in Baden-Baden
