Dorle Sommer, Viola

German violist Dorle Sommer is a founder member of the COE.
Dorle started playing both the violin and the viola with A.W. Torweihe. She then undertook further viola studies with Rainer Moog in Cologne, and graduated with the Concertexam in The Hague following two years of work with Nobuko Imai. Dorle also had masterclasses with Bruno Giuranna, Johannes Goritzky and Sandor Vegh.
During her time with Rainer Moog in Cologne, Dorle further developed her passion for chamber music, which she studied with the Cologne-based Amadeus-Quartett. Beside the COE, Dorle has been performing regularly for the past 30 years with Concentus Musicus and is an occasional guest with Camerata Salzburg and other chamber music groups.
