Fredrik Paulsson, Violin
Fredrik Paulsson joined the Chamber Orchestra of Europe in 2006. He studied violin with Pr. Harald Thedéen at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and later with Norbert Brainin and Zakhar Bron. At the age of sixteen he won the prestigious “Young Musician of the Year” with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra playing Sibelius Violin Concerto under Stig Westerberg and founded the Yggdrasil Quartet which rapidly gained an international reputation as prize winners in several international competitions. In 1995 they became “Quartet in Residence” at the University of Aberdeen and in 1996 they won the Cannes MIDEM award for best chamber music recording and were shortlisted for the Gramophone Award in 1997 for their recording of the Berwald Quartets. Fredrik has also been a member of the Quatuor Danel and made several recordings for Radio France and Auvidis Valois.
Fredrik has appeared as soloist with orchestras in Scandinavia and Europe performing with conductors such as Sylvain Camberling, Siegfried Köhler and Alexander Lazarev. He frequently leads the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. As chamber musician, he performs with artists such as Charles Neidich, Martin Fröst, Leif Ove Andsnes, Julius Drake, Love Derwinger, Colin Carr, Robert Cohen, Christian Poltera, Renaud Capuçon and Jakob Koranyi.
