Stefano Mollo, Violin

Stefano Mollo was born in Rome in 1964. He finished his studies in 1985 at the Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatorium under the guidance of Davina van Wely. He also took part in Chamber Music classes with Piero Farulli, the Quartetto Italiano, La Salle Quartet and with György Kurtág. He has been a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe since 1984. In 1987 he began playing the baroque violin, notably with Concentus Musicus Wien under Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Stefano made his debut as an actor in the play “Ivanov” by Anton Checkov, with the Freie Bühne Witzleben, in Berlin, in 1993. He also researched autographed manuscripts in various libraries, mainly on works by Schubert, Brahms, Mahler, Schumann, Beethoven and Mendelssohn. Since 1999 he has been working with the Cappella Andrea Barca and in 2001, he premiered Gianluca Cascioli’s Sonata for Violin and Piano. In 2002 he founded the Quatuor Miroirs in Paris, touring France, Japan, Morocco and Germany. In 2005, he was invited by the Brahms Gesellschaft Baden-Baden to the Brahms House for Scholarly work.
