Julian Poore, Trumpet
Julian has been a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe since its creation in 1981, playing with artists such as Claudio Abbado, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Sir András Schiff, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Pierre Boulez, Bernard Haitink, Paavo Berglund, Vladimir Jurowski and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Horace Barker, Ray Simmons and John Miller. Freelance work has included the many challenges of the contemporary music scene with Music Theatre Wales, Endymion, Music Projects London, Circle, Ensemble Modern, Ballet Rambert and deputising in many of the UK’s symphony and chamber orchestras.
He is Head of Brass at both Peter Symonds College, Winchester and the University of Southampton, teaches at Winchester College and the Pilgrims School, and participates in the Oratorium projects in Cluj, Romania and the Crescendo Summer Institute in Hungary.
Julian is director of music at his home church, the Salvation Army at Alton in the UK. Inspiring and helping people discover their own expression in making music is a constant source of joy and satisfaction.
