Matilda Kaul, Violin

Canadian violinist Matilda Kaul is a graduate of the Juilliard School and has played with the COE since 2003.

With the Daedalus Quartet, she concertizes extensively across North America, as well as serving as the quartet in residence at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, since 2007. In addition to performing the standard string quartet repertoire, the Daedalus Quartet is particularly focused on new American music, commissioning, performing and recording works by composers Fred Lerdahl, Joan Tower and Anna Weesner, amongst others.

Matilda plays a 1747 Januarius Gagliano violin, on kind loan from the Musical Instrument Bank of the Canada Council for the Arts.
