Henriette Scheytt, Violin

Henriette Scheytt studied violin and baroque violin in Freiburg, London and Berlin received scholarships from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and the DAAD. Her most important teachers were Rainer Kußmaul, Thomas Zehetmair and Thomas Brandis. Master classes with Henryk Szeryng and Nathan Milstein rounded off her training.

She has been a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe since 1992. She owes a significant part of her artistic and musical influence to this ensemble and the work with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Paavo Berglund, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Bernard Haitink.

As a guest leader she worked with the Balthasar – Neumann Ensemble, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Kammerakademie Potsdam, the Orchester de Chambre de Genève, Le Concert Lorrain and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.

An important facet of her career has been a keen interest in and study of both historical and contemporary music performance practice. As a result, Henriette’s solo and chamber music repertoire encompasses a wealth of music and musical styles from Biber to Boulez, and she is a much sought-after chamber music partner and collaborator in a wide spectrum of musical activities and events.

She is also active in the field of free improvisation and enjoys playing for silent films. In addition, in recent years, Henriette has been captivated by the violino piccolo. Since 2019 she has toured across the globe, performing on this rarely played instrument in Bach’s 1st Brandenburg concerto with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and other baroque ensembles.

Henriette is a fully-trained Shiatsu practitioner and an accredited member of  the “Gesellschaft für Shiatsu in Deutschland” (GSD).

Since 2022 she has been training as a Somatic Experiencing therapist (according to Peter A. Levine). Resonance is key to her work, whether in the context of body therapies or as a musician.
