Maria Kubizek, Violin (Associate)

Maria Kubizek joined the Chamber Orchestra of Europe in 1992.
Maria studied the violin in Vienna, Salzburg and London. She was Artistic Director of the ‘Capella Czestochoviensis’ for ancient music in Poland from 2006 to 2009 and is the Leader of the Haydn Akademie Eisenstadt.
As a soloist, she has appeared on many occasions in Vienna’s Musikverein (where she has performed all Mozart’s violin concertos), as well as taking part in the international Haydn Festival at the Eszterhazy-Eisenstadt’s castle. She also appeared as soloist in Europe and Japan with orchestras such as the Haydn Academy Eisenstadt, the Capella Istropolitana Bratislava, Vienna’s Mozart Orchestra, and Budapest’s Chamber Symphony.
Maria is passionate about chamber music, performing as much as possible on original instruments matching the style of the period when the pieces were composed. She has taken part in several recordings of repertoire ranging from H.I.F Biber to Mendelssohn.
She also plays first violin in different chamber ensembles and works with artists such as Paul Gulda, the Mosaique Quartet, Richard Fuller and Rudolf Leopold.
She is also interested in interdisciplinary projects; for instance, she collaborated with the ingenious Swiss sculptor Piero Maspoli, improvising freely within some of his installations.
