Maria Kubizek, Violin (Associate)
Maria Kubizek joined the Chamber Orchestra of Europe in 1992.
Born in Southern Austria, she comes from a family of musicians. She studied in Vienna, Salzburg and London and was particularly influenced musically by Sándor Végh and Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
As a concertmaster, soloist and ensemble leader, Maria has worked with a wide variety of ensembles, such as the Haydn Academy in Eisenstadt, the Basel Chamber Orchestra, the RecreationBAROCK Ensemble, the Freitagsakademie Bern, the Concentus Musicus Vienna, the Concerto Stella Matutina Ensemble, the Säntis Baroque Chamber Orchestra and others.
As a chamber musician, Maria works with artists such as Alfredo Bernardini, Christoph Berner, Mario Brunello, Christophe Coin, Patrick Cohen, Roel Dieltiens, Itamar Golan, Stefan Gottfried, Paul Gulda, Dorothee Mields, Jean Rondeaux and many others.
Her discography includes recordings by H.I.F.Biber together with Christophe Coin on original instruments by Jakob Stainer;
Violin Sonatas by W.A.Mozart on his father Leopold Mozart’s violin; also on period instruments: all the piano trios by the siblings Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn, as well as a complete recording of all the works for violin and piano by Franz Schubert.
In addition to her work as a violinist, Maria Kubizek is very involved in the intuitive sound work SIRA, which she created with children, young people and adults, which starts wherever words are missing, where young people in particular do not seem to fit into our social system, where talents and potentials are not recognized and achieved or chronic illnesses have come to a therapeutic standstill.
