Tiago Carvalho, Stage and Project Manager

Tiago Carvalho joined our team as Stage and Project Manager in November 2024. Tiago joins the Orchestra on tour, taking charge of the stage management as well as other tour logistics, working closely with Derri and Giovanni.

Upon joining the COE team, Tiago said: “I am thrilled to join the Chamber Orchestra of Europe as Stage and Project Manager. It is a privilege to become part of such an extraordinary orchestra and family renowned for its history and artistic excellence. Working backstage demands a similar level of dedication and artistry as performing with excellence. With this, I look forward to contributing with my expertise and passion to support the orchestra’s inspiring work and supporting musicians connecting with diverse audiences through the power of music.”

Born in Portugal, Tiago is a bass trombonist, Orchestra Stage Manager and performance scientist aspirant from Portugal, dedicated to music performance, arts, teaching, events management, performance psychology, and performers’ health and well-being.

His professional career started in music performance as an orchestral musician (Bass Trombone). However, due to a performance-related condition called Musicians’ Focal Dystonia, he was forced to take a long-term break in his career as a performer.

Prior to joining the COE, Tiago was Stage Manager at the Philharmonia Orchestra in London; he is project manager of Through the Process – Educate To Prevent, and is a postgraduate of the Master of Science in Performance Science at the Royal College of Music in London.
